How Is Damage Assessed?
Every vehicle is inspected before it is rented. When you return the vehicle, our team compares its condition with the 360-degree handover video to identify any new damage. This process ensures that customers are only charged for damage that actually occurred during their rental and not for pre-existing marks or normal wear and tear.
What Is Considered Normal Wear and Tear?
Normal usage does not result in damage charges. Examples include:
- Dust from riding
- Minor tyre wear
- Normal brake wear
- Small stone marks
- Very light surface marks caused by regular use
What Is Chargeable?
Charges may apply if the damage occurred during your rental due to an accident, negligence, or misuse. Examples include:
- Scratches
- Dents
- Broken parts
- Punctured tyres caused during the rental
- Accident damage
- Lost helmets
- Lost keys
- Damage caused by negligent riding
Only the actual damage is assessed and charged.
How Are Repair Charges Calculated?
Minor Damage — charged using standard repair costs that reflect the actual work required.
Major Damage — the vehicle is inspected by an authorised workshop, and the customer is charged the actual repair and labour cost. We do not estimate repair costs or charge arbitrary amounts.
Are There Any Hidden Administrative Charges?
No. At Travel Beyond Himalayas, we do not add administrative fees or processing charges on top of repair costs. If repairs are required, you pay only the genuine repair cost.
What If the Vehicle Is Unusable After an Accident?
If the vehicle remains in the workshop because of damage caused during your rental, the applicable rental loss for the downtime may also be recovered, as the vehicle cannot be rented to other customers during that period. This applies only when the downtime is directly caused by customer negligence.
